Lakeside Area – Networking and Support

Christ Lutheran Church, is forming a networking and support group opportunity for those affected by job loss. We welcome anyone who is looking for a job, anyone making a career change, and anyone soon to be laid-off due to downsizing. We also welcome those who have been through a job loss in the past and would like to share their experiences with others, and lastly individuals wishing to show their support by networking with friends, neighbors, and business contacts.

This group plans to meet every other Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Our first meeting will be held on April 17, at Christ Lutheran Church, 7809 Woodman Road. Please, let’s help our community. For more information, call the church office at 804-266-5775.

LAMB's Basket

In 1999 our food pantry began receiving referrals from Henrico county. It didn't take long before the church was no longer able to meet the county's high demand. Christ Lutheran's Pastor Eric Moehring then coordinated an initiative among other Lakeside area churches and pastors to form a larger food pantry that would be able to serve all those in need more efficiently. After two years of planning, LAMB's Basket opened in June 2002 as a non-profit organization (LAMB is an acronym for Lakeside Area Ministries Board). Donations and grants from churches, individuals, and organizations stock LAMB's Basket. It is run solely by volunteers. LAMB's Basket aims to provide food to families and individuals in Henrico county. Referrals are  made by Central Virginia Food Bank, Catholic Charities, Henrico County Social Services, and the United Way. Information on employment is also available. Today LAMB's Basket is housed in a warehouse at 5612 Greendale Road. They can be contacted at (804)565-8007 or LAMBSBASKET@aol.com.

Thanksgiving Baskets Ministry

Each year our congregation opens their hearts by providing a meal to families in our  community who might otherwise go without a Thanksgiving dinner. Members of our congregation provide us with the names of those who are suffering hardship. We contact the family and a time is arranged for them to come by church and pick up their meal or, if they are not able to come to us, we deliver it to them. Our youngest Sunday school students and their teachers put a lot of time and love into decorating beautiful Thanksgiving cards to include with each meal. These cards give our recipients as much joy as the the meal itself.
